Youth Litter Patrol – Crew Leader

The Youth Litter Patrol (YLP) program was founded in 1977 to assist in cleaning up highway rights-of-way. This is a great opportunity to work outdoors in a team environment and have a role in maintaining the environment as well as learn about career opportunities at ODOT!
This recruitment will be used to fill litter patrol crew leader positions in various locations around the state of Oregon. Litter crews primarily pick up litter along state highways although other tasks may be assigned as time allows. Litter crews usually
have a crew leader with two or more crew members.
Litter crews are hired as temporary employees and are not eligible for vacation, sick, personal or holiday leave. Crews may work full-time or part-time and hours assigned may vary. Most positions typically start mid-June and may last 6-12 weeks but varies by location.

Duties
· Transport crew members to work site using a state vehicle.
· Pick up and bag litter along state highways.
· Follow ODOT’s specified safety procedures.
Qualifications
· You must be at least 18 years old. You may apply prior to your 18th birthday;
however, you must be at least 18 years old on the first day of your assignment.
· You must have and maintain a current valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record.
· You must have a basic knowledge of spoken and written English.
· You must have the ability to pick up and bag litter along highways and lift and carry filled garbage bags.
· You must be able to work in all types of weather conditions and work in a safe manner along roadways with varied levels of traffic.
Due to the high volume of applications, names will be pulled in a random fashion for interviews and unless you are contacted to interview you will receive no further communications after your application has been submitted.

. Manufacturing and fabrication of consumer products
. Design products and the packaging to take home
. Learn and use 2 & 3-dimensional computer design tools
. Use laser cutters and 3 D printers
